Welcome to Annie's Donut Shop, a hidden gem located in the parking lot at 3449 NE 72nd Ave. in Portland, OR. This charming shop may appear unassuming from the outside, marked only by its glowing neon “Open” sign, but once you step inside, a world of delightful flavors and warm pastries awaits you. It's a place where nostalgia meets flavor, offering a retro vibe that evokes a sense of genuine comfort.

Each donut at Annie's tells a story of dedication to quality and taste. Customer reviews abound with praises such as “five star donuts” from Amadea Friedl, emphasizing the remarkable variety available. From the indulgent cream cheese strawberry-filled bar donut to the classic vanilla frosted cake donut adorned with sprinkles, every bite is a testament to the shop's commitment to delightful simplicity. Amanda Martin-Tully hit the nail on the head when she described the vanilla frosted cake donut as "everything it should be.” It's this dedication to authentic flavors that sets Annie's apart from the trendy donut spots that often prioritize gimmicks over quality.

Moreover, the experience at Annie’s isn’t limited to just donuts. Patrons rave about the fluffy, yeasted donuts, although some have noted a slight greasiness, which some may argue adds to the indulgent mouthfeel. The selection is impressive for an 11 a.m. stop, ensuring that customers can find something to suit their cravings, whether it’s a classic buttermilk or a decadent peanut butter-chocolate cinnamon roll. As Manderjano Manderjano shared, their blueberry muffin and chocolate buttermilk donuts left a lasting impression, aptly described as “better than heavenly.”

The atmosphere at Annie's is as warm as its pastries. Customers like Kari appreciate the friendly service and the relaxed environment, making it an easy choice for a quick stop or a cozy brunch. And for coffee lovers, pairing your treat with a cup of Brothers coffee transforms the experience, adding that perfect finishing touch to your visit.

In conclusion, Annie's Donut Shop is not just about donuts; it's an experience that celebrates traditional flavors, quality ingredients, and a welcoming atmosphere. A recommendation to anyone in Portland: stop by Annie's, and savor the beauty of a truly good donut.

Wandered in after a lifetime of driving by and I can’t imagine a day won’t go by now without thinking, this is the only place worth getting donuts in Portland. They’re not flashy, except for the shining red neon “Open” sign; the building is authentically retro in a way people might not appreciate until they realize this isn’t curated, this is real. I opted for a vanilla frosted cake donut, obviously with sprinkles and it was everything it should be. You won’t find whimsical flavors or gimmicks in this shop and I have to say... it’s tastes that much better because of it.

Just an all around good donut. Parking easy to get into and the service was fast. Reasonable selection for an 11am donut stop. Serving Brothers coffee, so a nice black coffee was the perfect addition. You can tell by the quality of the original plain cake donut that the rest were of good eating as well. The yeasted donuts were fluffy, but a tad oily from the fry. Would definitely return.

Popped in on a whim when I got stopped at the light, so glad I did! Great selection, friendly fellow at the counter, and everything was super delicious! Very fresh, soft and airy pastry items! I will definitely be back to try more flavors!

I grew up decades ago in the neighborhood near Annie’s. Recently I was in the neighborhood and memories of stopping in for a donut on my walk to school drew me in. I picked up what I consider the definitive donut varieties - a fritter, a maple bar and an old fashioned plus a cup of coffee. The employee was very friendly. Several patrons were seated and enjoying a discussion. Coffee was hot and fresh. Donuts were amazing. Fluffy, warm and flavorful dough. Good density on the old fashion. The maple bar glaze hit different than any I’ve had elsewhere. I promise, you won’t find a better donut anywhere.

Everything a donut shop should be. This place is a treasure, steeped in vibes that are becoming increasingly rare. The old fashioned and maple old-fashioned are incredible. I’ll be back for other flavors for sure.
